Bug fixes and plans

Welcome to a random yapyap log of ZakZakNeko :)

No big updates this week. I've been mostly busy with fixing some small bugs and working through the Trello board TODO list (yes, I finally have one now!). Next to that I did a few Youtube shorts, which got handful of views (no surprise there, just gameplay seems not to please YT algorithm). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Let's talk about future stuff instead:

--==**Beat Map Editor**==--

Boom! I think every rhythmgame should have an editor tool for players to make their own maps. There are some technical hurdles to solve before I feel confident starting to craft the mvp version of the editor. The first one is starting a song at any chosen time so, I need to figure out how to do that in the Godot Midi player. Seems to be easy enough, I just hope it will not lead to further sync issues. The second thing is: How to implement a scrolling container in Godot with custom graphics(?) I definitely need to play around with the container nodes to see how a solution would look like.

--==** DevLogs! **==--

Of course! Doing Devlogs is actually quite fun and useful as the process makes you think about gamedev problems and your project at a whole new level. Plus, as a bonus (if the algorithm decides so) devlogs are still a valid way to reach players & other devs. My plan is this: About 3-4 devlogs for the whole project. First (0th) devlog should give an overview of the project. Second devlog shall be on how to create a rhythmgame in Godot with all intricate details (sync issues etc). In third devlog I'll present the visual goodies and the last(?) devlog presents the beatmap editor. Now if I just could kick myself out of the slight procrastination...:P

--==** Adding the missing features **--

It's not much, as I feel that at least the 2D scrolling scene is quite rich already visually and from the gameplay point of view. The 3D scene is missing a few features such as hit accuracy indicator. All in all, some juice could be added too. Some time ago I toyed around with an idea to add 3D bars (resembling houses) in the background of the 3D scene, jumping up and down along with SpectrumAnalyzer node of Godot. Aand the dancing neko has to be added in the 3D scene as well.

Alright, I've got a bit of gamedev work to do :D

In the meantime, check out Shirobon's new album. It's got tunes, which scream: "do a beatmap for this!"

Take care,

Haru
